In June of 2005 I was recovering from major surgery and was ready to make some changes in my life. I was 167 pounds on a 5 foot 1 inch frame. In the photo to the left I was over 170 pounds. I was miserable. I made a promise to myself that I was going to make a change in my life. I started Weight Watchers in August of 2005 with a beginning weight of 165. I lost 16 pounds by November. Along the way I was walking several miles a week, but my weight loss had stalled. I started doing some light jogging and ran my first 5K at the end of November 2005. In December I was down a few more pounds, but again hit a plateau with my weight loss. A friend of mine told me about the EDGE Sports Performance Adult Fitness classes and I thought I would give it a try.
In January of 2006, I walked in to Denny Bonewitz’s gym and my life forever changed. I started doing his adult fitness classes and within 12 weeks I had reached my goal of 130 pounds. I have continued to lose weight and gain muscle over the last several months. I have gone from a size 16 jeans to a size 4. I have lost over 40 inches. My body fat has gone from 36% to 22%. I ran my first 10K in September of 2006. The adult fitness classes have forever changed my life for the better.
I have included the photo to the left to hopefully inspire someone to achieve better health. I am currently 125 pounds with a body fat of 20% as of December 7, 2007. My journey with weight loss continues daily. The life changes I have made have to be FOREVER...not until the class reunion, wedding or holidays are over. It is FOREVER! There is no end to this journey. I am in for the long haul. Please check back because this section will be changing as I change.
Show up and make it count, Cindy Helm
